Somes Pond Center
IN 2021, SOMES POND CENTER OPENED THE GARDENS, THOUGH ACTIVITIES WER CURTAILED DUE TO COVID. THE CENTER CONTINUED TO CULTIVATE CLOSER TIES WITH SOMES-MEYNELL SANCTUARY. GARDENS WERE EXPANDED TO FULFILL CENTER OBJECTIVES OF CREATING A NATURALISTIC LANDSCAPE, DERIVED FROM EXISTING FLORA, BOULDERS AND TREES. COMMUNITY MEMBERS CONTINUED TO USE AND ENJOY THE SOMES POND LANDING FOR BOATING AND SWIMMING PURPOSES. DURING THIS YEAR WE SPENT A LARGE AMOUNT OF OUR TIME ENVISIONING THE NEXT PHASE OF THE SOMES POND CENTER. THIS WILL TAKE EFFECT WHEN OUR PRESIDENT, JUDY GOLDSTEIN, PASSES AWAY AND LEAVES A SUBSTANTIAL ENDOWMENT TO THE CENTER.
